AJ has improved a lot since he left us but I am not sure if I would want him back. In the prem his most notably quality was his ability to fall over in the penalty area and get the pen. Most teams had sussed that near the end and I doubt he would be anywhere near as successful if he returned to the prem. I think Earnshaw would be a better prospect out of the two however I suspect neither are really an option. Once you remove the sentimentality associated with AJ is he really that good and would he work well with our style of play?

I agree that AJ is what we need. He would be electric alongside Heskey. However, wasn't someone supposed to have put a £6 Mill bid in for him which got rejected and they are now upping it to £7 Mill? Not sure who though.
However - if the board see it as £7 Mill to keep us in the Prem then they might be tempted?

More chance of seeing Gronkjaer back at St.Andrews, imo.

i think we should all swallow our pride and admit that the guy is class. i'd love to see him go to germany. However, i still wouldn't spend the money that is being quoted that would be required to drag him away from palace.

There aren't many strikers that score so many when playing up front on their own. i think he'd relish playing with dunn and heskey! admittedly most of his goals were from pens, but i'm pretty sure he won nearly all of them by frightening defenders with his devastating pace that is exactly the thing we need now!

We should have manufactured a deal in a reverse of the deal that brought morrison to blues...who i desperately wish still played for us. with morrison + heskey up front i don't believe we'd be in as bad a position as we find ourselves now. i think the guy was underrated. i think we could expect better but we should never have sold him!

nevermind, bring on man city! a ball thrust against forssell's legs and in again would be nice! just for confidence sake

I think the board would love to see AJ come back here and we did approach Palace in the summer but were flatly rejected.

I dont think he is worth the figures that have been discussed in terms of transfer fees considering he only scored 8 goals from open play last season.

to an extent i agree, but what you have to look at is he scored 8 goals in open play in a poor side!!!! and i mean a very poor side

not sayin he will be the answer to our prayers or anything ,but if we did offer jordan a flat 2-3million offer and hope that AJ could engineer a move...then i think at that price he could add that something we have been missin up front.....pace

...and on the subject of he's penalties...defenders usually hack players down they can't handle( either that or he's learnt to dive better ) and it wouldnt bother me how he got the goals as long as he scored
